This Season's Hottest Trends!

Budgets are tight these days, but that does not mean that you need to stop being fashion conscious. Jewelry is one of the best ways that you can stay current with today’s trends without having to spend all of the money that you have in your savings account. To really get the most bang for your buck it is important that you know what the top trends and styles are going to be so that you can choose quality pieces that will update your style.

Statement Jewelry

Statement jewelry is actually one of the largest trends right now. Pieces like this may not be the most expensive pieces in your wardrobe, but they will pack a lot of punch for the amount of money that you have spent on them. You will want to choose pieces that are a bit more outrageous than your every day jewelry. Explore fun shapes, rich colors, and lots of sparkle. The key to making this type of look work for yourself is to keep your statement down to one piece per outfit or two per outfit.  Remember spacing!!

Fluid Torsade Necklaces

You are probably thinking, “Aren’t these the necklaces that women used to wear in the 80′s?” Yes, they are and, yes, you will see updated versions of them in stores this Fall. These necklaces flaunt classic silhouettes that look great on any woman and look great for years to come. Today’s torsade necklace packs a modern twist; with satin ties as clasps, enchanting charms and various sized chains to give them an edgier feel.

Chandelier Earrings

Chandelier earrings are perfect fall/winter accessories because they are typically embellished with gorgeous gemstones that elegantly cascade down the ears and frame a woman’s face beautifully. This season look for earrings with intense color palettes such as infusions of fuchsia with garnet or deep olive greens with topaz. A burst of fierce color and glistening gemstones creates a striking contrast that gives any ensemble a touch of alluring glamour.

Embellished Bracelets

A number of bracelets this fall/winter are going to feature gemstones in a myriad of stunning ways. Whether you are into the eclectic, the classic, the modern or the edgier looks, this season’s on-trend choices all have one thing in common…more embellishments. Even the more casual stretchy bracelets are getting a makeover this fall…a growing number of designers are trying to create the perfect balance between comfort and beauty. You can never go wrong with that combination.

Cocktail Rings

Cocktail rings are items that will never really go out of style. There is always a party or event where you will be holding a champagne glass and you will definitely need a ring that makes a statement. This upcoming season you should look for oversized gemstones, eclectic patterns and gloss to accentuate your signature look. Some designers are showcasing clean looks by combining gemstones and woods.

 The Right Necklace Length

Collar — 12/13 inches
Collars are usually made up of three or more strands and lie snugly on the middle of the neck. Very Victorian and luxurious, collars go best with elegant V-neck, boat neck or off the shoulder fashions.

Choker — 14/16 inches
A choker is perhaps the most classic and yet versatile of all the single strand lengths. A simple choker can go with virtually any outfit from casual to fancy evening wear, and just about any neckline imaginable.

Princess — 17/19 inches
The princess length necklace is best suited for crew and high necklines. It also complements low plunging necklines.
Hint : it is a perfect support for a pendant.

Matinee — 20/24 inches
Longer than the choker, and just a bit shorter than an opera length, the matinee necklace is the right choice for casual or business dressing.

Opera — 28/34 inches
The opera necklace is the queen of all the lengths. When worn as a single strand, it is refined and perfect for high or crew necklines. When doubled upon itself, it serves as a versatile two strand choker.
This is the most common length for a necklace

Rope or Lariat — Over 45 inches
Dripping with elegance and sensuously sexy, the pearl rope was a favorite of Coco Chanel.

Clasps placed in strategic locations around the necklace will enable you to break it down into multi-strand necklace and bracelet combinations.  For those looking for the complete wardrobe, this length is a must.

Lariats are at least 48 inches long, with the ends left unattached for knotting or wrapping around the neck.

How To Choose The Right Earrings

You should identify you face shape first before you decide what style of earrings will compliment your face best.  Consider what will enhance your good features.  Take into consideration the cut & color of your hair, your skin tone, your body size and the clothes you're wearing.

Round - Choose lean, long and angular curved lines.  It will elongate and add a little angle to your face.  Drop earrings in dangles, ovals and oblongs.  Square and rectangular earrings are also good options as are angular.  But, make sure that you avoid small studs & hoops and chunky large earrings.

Oval - This is a classic shape that will work with almost any style of earrings.  You can experiment with different styles and decide what looks best on you.  However, avoid wearing incredibly long and thin shapes that will elongate your face.

Heart - Look for earrings that are wider at the bottom - tear drops, chandeliers, triangle shapes.  Even Circular and oval earrings will work with your face shape, so long as they don't taper as they descend.

Square - Earrings with a round and angular edge will work best because it will help softening a square face.  Avoid harsh angles and square shapes!  Hoops and curved edges will add necessary roundness.  Drop, tear drops and multi-tired dangle earrings will give a square shape some length.

Long or Thin - Wear simple studs and chandelier style earrings.  Three dimensional earrings will add fullness to your face.  To widen your face wear circular, triangle and square earrings.  Avoid flat or dangle earrings, they will elongate your face.
